Thudippu is an initiative by women performance artists Anjali Krishnadas and Ponnu Sanjeev. Trained in the indian dance forms of Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam , both come to their practice as graduates, shaped by long engagement with form and process.
Their work unfolds from the position of the artist outsider—one who inhabits classical forms while listening closely to their silences, fractures, and exclusions. From this place, art is not treated as a fixed inheritance, guarded by hierarchy and rigidity, but as a living body that must breathe, shift, and respond to social change.
Shaped by their journeys of becoming women, and informed by contemporary conversations on gender, their practice turns art into a site of questioning—where inherited roles loosen, and new ways of moving, feeling, and being can emerge. They understand art not as a singular tradition, but as a meeting ground of cultures, histories, and influences, constantly in motion.
From this understanding, Thudippu has grown into an open, egalitarian space for learning and exchange. It brings together practitioners across disciplines, nurtures dialogue between body and thought, supports experimental and socially engaged work, and remains committed to sustaining and amplifying marginalised art forms.
